Much has gone on, very much has happened over the last month. For this reason, I have not been able to update this my area for verbal commentary.

I took a class last semester, entitled "Technology and Canada," that class literally blew my mind. I am not disillusioned in the least bit, but in fact my awareness has been raised to perceive the world around me in a completely different way.

I mentioned to someone that man himself is increasingly trying to become God, but that person could not see past the fact that man plays with lives, which leaves serious questions in my mind as to how that particular individual perceives God's actions. Nevertheless, I stray from my point.

I have been made aware of the traps that the successes of technological progress has brought about. I have been asked to be vigilant, and to listen for the intimations of deprivation which continues to go unnoticed in this perpetual dynamo we refer to as life. We are entering a dark age in our civilization.

We are now at the stage when the Easter Islanders could still have halted the senseless cutting and carving, could've gathered the last trees' seeds to plant out of reach of the rats. We have the tools and the mans to share resources, clean up pollution, dispense basic health care and birth control, set economic limits in line with natural ones. If we don't do these things now, while we prosper, we will never be able to do them when times get hard. Our fate will twist out of our hands. And this new century will not grow very old before we enter an age of chaos and collapse that will dwarf all the dark ages in our past.

Now is our last chance to get the future right.

Radiohead's new album is coming out soon! According to NME, their currently recording about 16 tracks, including "Nude" which is gonna be pretty damn good!

It's been a while since I posted, last Friday's team building stint went really well! I made some new awesome friends, and everything seems to be working out really well! I'm hopefully going to get a job this summer with the Centre for Distance Education, which would be a good thing!

I'm hoping to redesign a few sites, especially systemclear, and renteriaflooring.com. I hope things work out with my schedule and what not!

Redesign, Symposium, and the Safari

Well... I'm going to start to redesign things, also there's a symposium tomorrow which is really interesting!  I was also thinking I wanted to go to Flash In The Can in Toronto from April 21st to the 23rd this year.  It's supposed to be really interesting, apparently there're going to be many presentations from some gurus in the industry, like your favourite and mine Joshua Davis.

Symposium was today, it was awesome!  I think that things turned out really well!  I got to network with a whole bunch of people, I even met a guy who has had a hand in developing ACTIONSCRIPT yes that's right!  Flash's codebase!  We're going on a sea safari this friday!

This is all so exciting.  Lots of new developments coming, I also have an offer to work at the Distance Ed Department this summer which would be a great opportunity!

I'll keep you updated!

Jeru is also feeling better now!  Thanks to your prayers!

If anyone is reading this and they have an idea of to treat this... please let me know!  Thank you in advance!

Everything Is Illuminated...

-- by the light of the past.  I just watched the movie entitled "Everything Is Illuminated" and it explored some very interesting concepts.
Everything Is Illuminated
Perhaps the primary message that the writer Johnathan Safran Foer, incidently also the name of one of the main characters, was trying to get across to the viewers, was that the past does not exist for us to find out about.  But that we exist because of the past.

I find this concept interesting because we have been exploring the birth of modern civilization in a communications / canadian studies class, and I find that, truly, Everything Is Illuminated by the past.

I mean, if one were to begin to think about the past, or study it for that matter, you would find that the reason why some months have 31 days while February has only 28, is because the officials who were deciding the number of days, borrowed them from February, and gave them to July and August (Julius & Augustus Ceaser).  Both were important people so they get more days in the months named after them.  Also, the smallest whole number in the Sumerian system of numbers was 60, that could be divided without producing fractions.  Voila! 60 mins in every hour and 60 seconds in every minute... strange ain't it?

Apparently, before the Thesaurus Temporum, various different histories of different civilizations were considered to be seperate and on different timelines. Joseph Justus Scaliger's De emendatione temporum [on the correction of chronology] (1583) surveyed all the ways then known of measuring time, and placed the study of ancient calendars and dates on a scientific basis. He discovered and restored the content of the lost original of the second book of Eusebius' chronicle. The chronological foundation for the modern study of ancient history was summed up in his Thesaurus temporum [repertory of dates] (1606).

Don't you find that the past illuminates the present. This can also be seen clearly in our personal lives... I would take a minute to reflect on it. You can really see how God is working.

In other news, Jeru is sick. Viral infection. I feel so sorry for her, she seems to be in so much pain and sometimes, i just feel helpless. Doctors here don't give anti-biotics. Instead they just say to wait it out. I mean, it is good and it is bad. But while you're in it, it sucks... I think i'm gonna come down with it soon too if I don't get some rest...

I hope things are working out well for the people in Singapore, and elsewhere in Canada (Kingston) as well as in my neigbourhood! Babies are coming due! I need to find out some news!

Damn it's 12:30 am already...

The "PEOPLES" Action Party

I am truly amazed at the efforts of Dr. Chee Soon Juan of the Singapore Democratic Party. The "PAP" or the LKYAP, has dominated the Singaporean political scene since Singapore's independence.

I do not deny in the least how great Singapore has become, and LKY has done a great deal to better Singapore.

Unfortunately, in a bid to keep power, the party has also used tactics to essentially both cripple support, and cripple the members of any sort of opposition party in Singapore. This is a disgraceful act. I think that a political party, with as much clout as the PAP has, should have principles, and not cut off bus service to areas that have voted for the opposition or upkeep of HDB flats in the area.

You can read more about the injustices suffered by Dr. Chee Soon Juan at his blog or visit my friend Sheng's Blogspot for his view on things.

Amnesty International Canada (GO CANADA!) has stepped into the debate and I would ask anyone who is interested to show your support for this man and the injustices that he has suffered at the hands of the Leeigme.

The Sky is Broken

I was just thinking today, first of all how much the medical system does currently suck.  Aside from that I was thinking, how there is so much to love in this world.  Amidst the pain, inhumanity, and the suffering, there is so much beauty and humanity.  People using their talents to protest the inequities that plague our very existence.

I recently have gained a new appreciation for music.  I was walking home, and well, what i saw could have simply been framed, and put up in an art gallery for exhibit.  The beauty of creation.  The beauty of nature.  I just stood there for a few minutes in awe.  It truly was beautiful.

Have you ever wondered if Life was a dream, I mean, your very existence, the people you met the situations that you went through... Did it at any point seem surreal?

I'm in the process of reproducing a painting by the extremely talented, late Oswaldo Guayasamín entitled: Las Manos de La Protesta (below).

I truly enjoy art, and music and everything that is related, it leaves me with so much admiration for the greatest Artist, our Lord God!  How wonderful you are Lord and the beauty of the works of your hands!  Gracias Señor! Thank You that You are You my King.

The Wedding Times (1 Year, 3 months left)

I think i'm going to go and find a countdown timer to have on the Blog.

Well it looks like we're in the final 3 weeks of the semester.  The demo was a success if you want to take a look at it.

http://www.industrydesign.ca/clients/iltdemo
(You may need to have Flash player v.8 to see it.)

Anyhow, things are going along, wedding prep is getting to be a little bit of a nuisance.  The reason being that: a) everything is so damn expensive (i.e. $1.50 for each time the people slice the cake, etc.), and b) there's just a lot of shopping around.

Furthermore, I have to solidify the guest list and make sure that everything is going to be going well.  We were actually thinking about going to Langara and asking around to see if the event planning or interior decorating or some kind of design class who would have to do a final big project, would consider planning and executing our wedding.  I dunno how it's going to look like, which raises other concerns...

Anyhow,

Well, I finally proposed, March 4th, 2006.

Let me tell you, this didn't seem like the normal proposal siutation, but I knew it was God's will to propose on that day... I prayed and asked if it was the correct day and I said asked Him to make it sunny that day, which was previously forecast to be raining through to Tuesday. Well considering that I proposed, it was sunny, and it started raining only after I had dropped her off, and gotten home.

Now, to the proposal details:

First, we went out to the cheapest dinner, then we went to Tim Hortons, made lots of U-turns, and then straight to the airport.

You see, after Jeru rejected me that time, I decided that I wouldn't talk to her because it was wayyyy too awkward. We had about a week of awkwardness, then she was like crying over the phone about how she didn't want to lose a friend and so I picked her up and we went for a drive and ended up at the Airport... Anyways, we kind of sat there and she cried, and we talked, about so many things, and I just thought that I would kiss her on the cheek, because I was so compelled, by what, I do not know.

Anyway, after that kiss, things became better and we soon we became best friends again. We spent alot of time in my Dad's car too, which is one of the reasons, I used that car as opposed to any other car, and we spent lots of time infront of Gordon, and Olivia's house. We used to drive home from SFU every Friday night after studying (well she was studying, I was just wanting to be near her), and the time 11:11 pm started to gain a weird significance in our relationship...

So back to the proposal night, we went to the airport, and it was cold out... there was a little bit of wind and so she kept like coming close to me and not sitting on the car... I had to turn on the headlights so she could actually see the ring... it was a night fraught with issues.

I finally got her to look away long enough for me to get the blasted box open and VOILA! When she turned around, I tried getting on my knee, but the ground was too wet and there was mud, and so I kinda squatted and looked like I was kneeling and I said: "how's about it baby?" She started to cry... no yes, no i want to marry you, just crying... then she said (after about 2 mins of crying) "this box is sooo big..." and so she continued to cry, she wore the ring... but she continued to cry and then we stopped the car later on, and I asked her: "so what do you think? Will you marry me? and she replied:"I don't know" followed by more crying and for another 15 mins while I just sat there and tried to make sense of things... and she interjected with a few "how much did you spend on this" and "this box is just way too big" ...

Well she finally agreed! (THANK YOU VERY MUCH) She explained that it was an overwhelming moment and that she was just totally blown away by the whole incident, because on the one hand she did expect it, but on the other, she didn't expect the emotional wave that would come out of that small (or big) box...

We went home, and she did not want to go into the house, after much coaxing and encouragement she went in... but she stayed at the stairs. The welcoming committee of Jeriel, Zara, and Emily, really helped! (THANKS GUYS! I LOVE YOU ALL!), we cracked open a good bottle of Merlot and away we went with some Chocolate Mousse.

Overall, it was a pretty crazy night! But a night to remember nevertheless... You know, most people find a best friend in their wives, but I am fortunate... I found my wife in my best friend.

I woke up this morning... to the phone ringing several hundred times... maybe...

I don't how I slept, cause I wasn't able to truly sleep.  I mean my eyes were closed but my mind was fully concious... I feel tired right now, and I don't think that I have any reason to be stressed out.

Just heard the song Heartbeats by José González, it's such an awesome song!  Buy it!
Apple introduced their new Mac Mini today, I can't believe they haven't realeased the iBooks yet... I can't wait for those... my current one is as solid as a rock... and I say that because I witnessed it's flight, yes... it's FLIGHT, half way across the boarding area while waiting for our flight to Sao Paulo this last August... man... I love this thing.

And... it just works.

Today has been to say the least, surreal.  I mean, I haven't felt like this in a long time, and before I go on, know that I am not on any kind of drugs.

I have never been so conciously aware of my body like, I realize it's a shell, a tool almost, something that I'm using.  I dunno what this means... but i will tell you this.  It feels mighty weird.

In other news, I think I'm going to get Jeru a refurbished iBook, or maybe give her mine and get a Mac Book Pro.  Although, I'm not too sure about those, considering their the first version.  I'm gonna see if they come up with anything by September this year.  If not.. I'll consider... also... Photoshop needs to be run natively before I'm gonna even consider it.

Take it easy!

Things are going pretty crazy today, but I did manage to spend so much time with someone special... so i think that overall it was a pretty good day...  wouldn't you say?

In other news... Jurrasic thinking is overturned... looks like the whole theory of evolution took a bit of a blow on the mammal evolutionary front...  kinda weird if i don't say so myself...

Anyways...
